Survival of the Illest with Slick Rick, 2009
When Future popped on the stage at the Slick Rick Survival of the Illest show in Portland, the audience first thought that this little kid must have wandered in unawares that he was on stage. But once Future grabbed the mic and started spitting his lyrics, the audience fell in love and rocked hard to a song they had never even heard before. Slick Rick later said that he was, “The Future of Hip Hop.” And from that moment on, a star had arrived.
